SMPS DC Holiday Party & Benefit to be held at the new District Architecture Center
November 29, 2011 1 CommentOn December 14th the SMPS DC Chapter will be holding their 2011 Holiday Party at the District Architecture Center (DAC). Located in the vibrant Penn Quarter neighborhood, the DAC is a new venture that is touted as the epicenter of Washington,DC, architecture as well as a place for both the public and the professional to celebrate architecture and design.
The DAC is a collaboration of the Washington Architectural Foundation (WAF) and its partner the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC), and the center will foster a greater participation in city life for architects and the public. Design professionals, consumers, patrons, visitors, students and community leaders will use the new downtown location to learn about the latest cutting edge architecture in the city and the world, discover new techniques through multiple education classes that will change the way architects work, celebrate architecture, new and old, as it shapes our city and region and engage new audiences that will lead to a greater appreciation of Washington’s architectural heritage and future.
The SMPS DC Chapter Holiday Party is a registered event with Children’s National Medica lCenter, with all proceeds going towards their mission of development and application of innovative new treatments for childhood illness and injury. The SMPS DC Chapter has a successful history with Children’s National and is excited to contribute once again to their cause. In addition to making a donation the SMPS DC Chapter will also send gifts for Dr. Bear®’s Closet to boost the spirit of Children’s National patients.
The event will be held in the Gallery of the DAC, with cocktails and hors d’oeurves to kick off the night, followed by a silent auction giving guests a chance to bid on exclusive items such as Kimball Hero Task Chair Courtesy of Workspaces, Morning with the Sports Junkies Courtesy of The Sports Junkies, Michelle Heim & AECOM, London Fletcher Panel Football Courtesy of Alpha Corporation, Top Golf Gift Certificate Courtesy of Studio 39, spa packages,travel, and fantastic cuisine from our local area.
If you are interested in donating items for the auction please contact Katie Garrett or Amanda Sanderson. 100% of the proceeds collected from the auction will be donated to Children’s National Medical Center. As a donor your company logo will be added to the SMPS DC Chapter website and included on all promotional materials prior/during the event.
