The Fellows of SMPS represent the highest level of experience and leadership in marketing within the design and building industry. The Fellows serve as a resource at the chapter, regional, and national levels, providing insight, ideas, programs, and mentoring for the benefit of the members and the Society. In addition, these individuals teach, write, and speak on marketing issues outside of SMPS, working to advance the profession of marketing professional services throughout the architectural/engineering/construction industry.
The chapter’s Fellows include:
Dianne Schachner FSMPS, CPSM
Dianne retired from Leo A Daly as Principal and Director of Business Development after 24 years with the firm. She has over forty years of industry experience and has been a member of SMPS since 1982. In 1992 she was elected chapter president after serving many other executive positions and committee chairmanships. In 2006, she became a Fellow of SMPS.
Being a Fellow has allowed her to do some of the things she loves best – mentoring younger professionals to help advance their careers. She continues to expand her knowledge and influence with her peers.
Susan Merrigan, FSMPS, CPSM
Susan is a highly accomplished, creative marketing professional with a successful 18-year track record in the architecture/engineering/construction industry. Marketing Director at Perkins+Will’s DC Office, Susan has been a member of SMPS since 1996 and became a fellow in 2012. She currently serves as the National Chair for the SMPS Chapter Awards Program. She served on the DC Chapter Board from 2000-2008 and was the DC Chapter President for the 2005-2006 term. Susan’s academic background include a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida, a Master of Arts in Public Communications and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication / Law / Economics / Government from American University.
“Fellowship in SMPS is a responsibility to continue to help others in the profession build their business and advance their careers. Looking back on my career, I have been the beneficiary of many experienced Fellows that have helped guide me. I want to serve in that same capacity for today’s up-and-coming leaders.”
