It's time to start leading your life #LikeABoss! Kick-start your journey as an emerging leader alongside a cohort of your peers, and explore the tools, techniques and ideas critical to continued growth as a leader within your firm and your career.

What You'll Learn

This kickoff and four-part series is designed to enhance the leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills of marketing and business development professionals in beginning or mid-manager roles. Participants will learn how to identify and adapt their own personal leadership style, build upon and improve strategic business relationships, and develop a strategic plan to enhance their leadership skills to help meet career and organizational objectives.


Who Should Attend? Limited to the 5- to 10-year professional, this program is designed to serve professionals new to leadership and management roles within their firm. Each session explores critical challenges faced by emerging leaders, and includes educational resources such as assessment tools, relevant articles, and exercises participants can bring back to their teams and firms.


Program Cost: The registration fee ($195 early bird on or before March 23/$245 after March 23) includes a kickoff session and four two-hour sessions conducted in an intimate and collaborative learning environment.


Session Descriptions: Seasoned leaders and executive coaches specializing in the AEC industry will lead hands-on exercises and discussions designed to encourage self-reflection and critical thinking in an open, dynamic atmosphere. Each session in the series will build upon the last, resulting in a complete assessment of the leadership development journey (including the Predictive Index assessment) and a personal strategic plan outlining leadership growth goals and objectives.

  2. Session 1 (4/17/18): Leadership Styles, Joanna Hoffschneider, ALEP, Resolute Consulting
  3. Session 2 (5/1/18): Communication Styles, Heather Davis, PHR, SHRM-CP, KGO
  4. Session 3 (5/15/18): Relationship Building, Laura Ewan, CPSM, Hickok Cole Architects
  5. Session 4 (5/29/18): Action Planning, Amy Cuddy, CPSM, Ayers Saint Gross

What It Costs

This program is limited to SMPS DC members with 5-10 years of experience.


Capacity: Program is capped at 12 participants and limited to one representative per firm. Participants are expected to attend and participate in all sessions, including prework.
