Guru Guidance

To continue our focus on training and relationship building among SMPS members, SMPS DC is excited to continue our Mentoring Program, Guru Guidance. This program pairs marketers at all experience levels, facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences as well as sharing industry tips and tricks.

The program is comprised of two main components: individual meetings and organized group activities. There will be 3 to 4 organized group events during the course of the program, with activities ranging from roundtables to community service. All of the participants in the program will meet, share and learn from each other at these group meetings.

Additionally, each guru-mentee pair should plan to have one face to face meeting per month. Though suggested topics of conversation will be provided each month, we ultimately hope that the pairs will use this time to get to know each other better and learn more about marketing. Together the mentee and Guru will develop a schedule that will allow for a free exchange of ideas. To help document the program and ensure that everyone benefits from the experience, we ask that the mentees provide brief written feedback to the Guru Guidance committee after each monthly meeting.

Guru Guidance aims to be a mutually beneficial program for both guru and mentee. The program fosters communication and sharing of experiences, resulting in not only learning new skills, but also gaining new perspectives on professional marketing in the A/E/C field. Ultimately success means both the Guru and Mentee have grown personally and professionally from the experience.

The program runs from fall to late spring with pairings occurring prior to the beginning of the program in the fall.

We are now accepting both mentees and Gurus into the program! For questions about the program, and to enroll please contact Jason Moskowitz at jlm@wilmot.com.
