On September 28th the SMPS DC Chapter is hosting their annual Kick Off event on 1200 19th Street’s astounding green roof. The LEED Platinum building’s renovation was completed in 2009 incorporating several sustainable features such as the green planted roof, energy efficient mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and recycled materials. The project earned an ENERGY STAR rating of 99 out of 100 points placing it in the top 2% of most energy efficient buildings in the United States. The fabulous rooftop venue is available courtesy of MOI, a full-service office furniture dealership with over 27 years of experience.

The breathtaking vistas of our nation’s capital serve as the perfect backdrop to celebrate the DC Chapter’s great success at this year’s SMPS National Awards. The chapter took home three awards including the Striving for Excellence Grand Prize Chapter of the Year. Chapter President Joe Monahan will provide a brief overview of the Chapter’s plan for another outstanding year and several prizes will be given away to lucky attendees.

Refreshments will be provided by Ridgewells catering who have made great strides to “green” their services by purchasing from local vendors and farmers, supporting sustainable agriculture and fishing, using organic ingredients, and incorporating a “No Waste” policy at their headquarters. They are also 100% wind-powered.
