With Domains 1-3 already under their belt, the Fall 2012 CPSM study group is in full swing. Kicking off in early October, the group plans to cover one of the six Domains of Practice each week.

I had the chance to sit down with the study group leader, Laura Ewan, CPSM of RTKL to get her thoughts on all things CPSM.

What made you decide to take the CPSM exam?

[Laura Ewan]: I took the CPSM exam because it was something I could do for myself to move my career forward.

What is the most valuable thing you’ve gained since becoming a CPSM?

[Laura Ewan]: The CPSM process gives you a real appreciation for the big picture behind what we do as marketers that you can't get focusing solely on your job within your company. Additionally, the CPSM network that you become a part of, through forums, additional programming, and even reputation has been invaluable to me.

What do you feel is most important for the study group participants to take away from the weekly sessions?

[Laura Ewan]: I want participants to leave each session with an understanding of how each Domain we discuss fits into the big picture. There is so much overlap between the Domains and I hope we help create a better understanding of the information by showing these connections.

Have ideas you’d like to share? Interested in learning more about the CPSM program or joining a study group? Give me a shout!
