Welcome New Members!

The SMPS DC Chapter was pleased to host over 20 new and prospective members in addition to several Board members and Past Presidents at the New Member Luncheon event on Friday, February 21. Everyone filed into the private room of Cheesetique’s brand new space in Shirlington for a fun Friday afternoon of decadent food, socializing, and learning more about just what all SMPS has to offer!

Following Board and attendee introductions, Matthew McFadden, Member Engagement Director from SMPS National Headquarters, spoke briefly about the various resources available to members at the National level. During lunch, Board members each took a few minutes to share information on their respective committees and encourage new members to become involved on these committees. Additionally, a couple of Past Presidents, Laura Ewan and Tara McCarthy, delivered a fantastic account of their journey with SMPS through the years, highlighting how it has helped them in their careers and the meaningful friendships made along the way. And finally, new member Michael Newman provided a thoughtful testimonial on why he joined SMPS and what he looks forward to in his membership.

As the group wrapped up the meal with cheesecake and chocolate mousse, we raffled off some awesome t-shirts and books and new members picked up some cool swag as they departed, all courtesy of Matthew from HQ. SMPS DC is very excited to welcome new members and encourages anyone interested in joining to reach out to Suzanne Swistak at sswistak@ecslimited.com.

Stay tuned for our next new member event in the second quarter of 2020!
