The SMPS DC Chapter hosted several new and prospective members and Board members online at the New & Prospective Member Webinar on October 15. It was great to see everyone and be able to share more about just what all SMPS has to offer!

Following chapter sponsor thank-yous and Board and attendee introductions, Matthew McFadden, Member Engagement Director from SMPS National Headquarters, relayed helpful information with regards to the various resources available to members through SMPS Headquarters. The silver lining to our online environment was the ability for him to share his screen and take a hands-on approach to explaining the many learning tools and other outlets available to us as members.

After Matthew spoke, Board members each took a few minutes to share information on their respective committees and encourage new members to become involved on these committees. Additionally, one of our veteran members, Karen Cotton, delivered a fantastic account of her journey with SMPS through the years, highlighting how it has helped her in her career and the meaningful friendships made along the way.

As the group wrapped up the afternoon, we conducted a live raffle for a one-year membership to the SMPS DC Chapter. Congratulations to Ainsley Rhodes, Marketing Coordinator at Landscape Architecture Bureau, for winning this great prize! Ainsley was not already a member, so we are so excited to welcome her to our membership and look forward to seeing her around.
