Let's Get To It...

What got you into the AEC industry and what keeps you here?
My dad is a structural engineer like me, and I used to visit job sites with him when I was a kid.

When and why did you first join SMPS, and what keeps you coming back?
I joined SMPS in 1996 when I was in our Atlanta office as a young engineer, just getting exposed to business development. I come back to stay connected to local teaming partners, and to spend time with the many friends I’ve met along the way.

What advice do you have for our newer SMPS DC members about getting the most out of their membership?
Be active, join a committee, and meet people.

What has been your favorite SMPS DC or SMPS event?
One of my first SMPS DC events when I moved here in 2008 was at the Tabard Inn. The fireplace was going, and I remember it being a cozy, warm and welcoming environment.

What part of the SMPS mission to Advocate, Educate, and Connect most resonates with you and why?
Connect. I love meeting new people and being inspired by their stories.

What is your favorite SMPS DC memory?
Great Christmas parties.
