Let's Get To It...

What inspired you to join SMPS and what are you hoping to get out of your membership?
I attended SMPS events sporadically since joining the industry and got a taste for the great programs and networking opportunities available. I was excited to finally join last October and am looking forward to becoming more deeply involved.

What has been the most valuable part of your membership so far?
When I first started in the industry, I was the only marketer at my firm. Attending SMPS events was invaluable in helping me to gain a frame of reference and to expand my understanding of the industry.

Best work-related advice you’ve ever gotten?
Bring solutions, not problems.

What got you into the AEC industry and what keeps you here?
I was lucky to fall into a marketing position with Bonstra | Haresign Architects in 2013 and discovered that it was a perfect match for my interest in design and background in writing and graphics. I love working with creative people and am addicted to the fast pace and dynamic nature of the industry.

What part of the SMPS mission to Advocate, Educate, and Connect most resonates with you and why?
For me, educate resonates most deeply. I’m always eager to expand my knowledge and grow professionally. SMPS DC’s education events have helped me to develop a broader perspective and more intricate understanding of the profession and industry, as well as to bolster my confidence!

What’s the most valuable thing you’ve learned through SMPS (an event, speaker, or fellow member)?
The value of advocating for our (marketers') role & value within the industry. AEC marketers are critical to the success of our firms, and SMPS has taught me the value in also promoting our skills and services internally.
