Did you realize that our career – the marketing of professional services was once illegal? Luckily, marketing professionals are creating true and lasting impact and firm leadership in new and exciting ways. The role of an AEC marketer is evolving — we are being tasked to do more. SMPS is a valuable resource in practical training and knowledge for today’s AEC marketers (no matter our titles) on industry trends, new tools, and tactics and shifts in what defines marketing.

SMPS DC continues to work hard for our membership and to advance the society. Aligning with our leadership theme - Lead yourself, Lead others, and Lead the chapter - SMPS DC is bringing you opportunities throughout the year to flex your leadership muscles and grow! As you fill out your calendar with work and social obligations, please leave room for SMPS!

Lead Yourself

Its is not too late to register for our five-session Leadership Development Series! Each session will be facilitated by a highly experienced, industry leader. On April 17, Session 1: Leadership Styles will be led by Joanna Hoffschneider, ALEP, Resolute Consulting.

We’re also excited to bring Graceworks to town for our next educational program, Writing Champions – Graceful Editing and Proofreading, on April 18. Learn skills for the behind-the-scenes champions of the writing process — editors and proofreaders.

Lead Others

On April 24, our Career Advancement Committee will host our Spring Guru Guidance Mentoring Event. Event topic discussions will include building a stronger network, earning co-worker trust, communicating more effectively at work, and other best practices.

A great business leader needs to stay ahead of current market conditions and on May 2, SMPS DC will host another highly popular Lunch and Leads program focused on the data center market. This event is sure to sell out and additional speakers are being added.

Led by our Community Outreach Committee, the Chapter is honored to participate in the DCA Honor Flight Greeting on Saturday, May 5, to welcome veterans at Reagan National Airport. You, your family and friends are all welcome to join us!

We strive to offer impactful programming and events relevant to your career, whether you have 15+ years of experience or only a few months.

Lead the Chapter

Are you ready to help shape the direction for and lead the DC Chapter? If so, please review our Call for Board Nominations and consider applying for an open board position by April 27.

We’re also always on the lookout for committee volunteers, so please reach out to our committee chairs if you're interested in joining a committee.

And finally, if you were fortunate enough to attend the SMPS Northeast Regional Conference – Merge, then you can attest that a little snow did not damper this amazing event. Kudos to the conference chairs, planning committee, insightful speakers, and countless volunteers – many of whom were SMPS DC Chapter members - that helped to make this year’s conference a success!
