Hello SMPS DC Family,

I hope this note continues to find you and your families safe and in good health. For many of us, it has been over five weeks since our lives were turned upside-down both personally and professionally. After the initial shock, I believe most of us have successfully found our new stride, and that includes the SMPS DC Board.

We’ve had to pivot and restructure our traditional programming and re-imagine how we continue to provide value to our membership and the greater SMPS DC Community. For now, we will offer our virtual programming for free to our members. We are also looking for members who have presentations they’ve developed for other conferences or events that they would be willing to deliver to our Chapter. If you have a program idea or have a presentation you’ve already developed, or would like to develop, please let reach out to me (jbottomley@hga.com) or Kim Metzinger (kmetzinger@eypae.com).

As you can probably guess, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel our Summer Celebration event in June and will postpone our Chapter Awards and Scholarship program to a later date. We will be conducting our 2020-2021 Board Slate approval process electronically. You will receive an email in the coming weeks with more information. The Call for Nominations is still open and more information can be found on the website.

To our Chapter Sponsors – we are so appreciative of your support and we are looking at ways to supplement our current benefits during this time. A few things we will be implementing include: developing Chapter Sponsor Spotlights to be distributed through our e-blasts and social media; and extending your sponsorship year expiration (watch your email for more details).

In this rocky economic climate, we know some of our members may find themselves unemployed, on reduced hours, or marketing budgets slashed. If you find yourself in one of these situations, please reach out and let us know how we can help you. Do you need help putting together or proofing your resume? Do you need job leads? Do you want to learn a new skill? Do you want to brainstorm ideas on how to create marketing strategies on a shoe-string budget or with less staff? Do you need a roundtable of peers to bounce ideas off? Please reach out to me or our Membership Director, Suzanne Swistak, if you are in need (SSwistak@ecslimited.com).

We are here to serve you, so please, please, let us know how what you need and how we can help!

We are living through one of the biggest disruptions our generation has ever seen, so let’s use this as an opportunity. Let’s pull together as an SMPS community to help one another, bring innovative and new ideas to the table, and demonstrate how resilient professional services marketers are!
