Look out 2020, here we come!

Time flies when you are having fun! The SMPS DC Chapter has officially completed the first quarter of our program year and we still have three exciting quarters to go.

Our rockstar board and committee members have already provided our membership more than a dozen events including education events, project tours, networking events, lunch programs, community service, new member orientation, and webinars.

But not to worry, we are just getting started. 2020 is going to be even better. Registration is open (www.smpsdc.org/events) for most of our January/February events including:

  • 1/11 - Wreaths Across America Clean-up
  • 1/30 – Connecting the Dots: Marketing’s Role in Aligning Brand Experience (BX), Customer Experience (CX) and Employee Experience (EX)
  • 2/7 - Winter Roundtable Networking Lunch
  • Lunch and Leads: Healthcare for the Aging Population
  • CPSM Bootcamp

Even though the year has been great so far, it hasn’t been all sunshine and rainbows. We have had our share of challenges. We unfortunately lost two Board Members (Christy Jenkins, Communications; and Katie Gregg, Special Events Co-Chair) to sunny Southern California, but were lucky to have Courtney Messick step up to lead the Communications team and Jess Gillette will continue being the solo leader of the Special Events team.

The strategic initiatives that our Board set out this summer are still at the center of our work – we want to focus on recruitment and retention of members and increasing the engagement of our membership.

I strongly believe in the mission and power of this community and I want every member to have a positive experience. I encourage you to reach out to us – let us know how we can help you get more out of your membership. What kind of programming or events do you want to see?

If you want to get more involved, we are actively seeking volunteers to serve on the membership and sponsorship committees. We are also looking for someone with graphics capabilities to assist the communications committee.

You can find the contact information for our chapter leadership on our website, but here is mine – 703-836-7766 / jbottomley@hga.com – use it!
