It’s that time of year again. The time for heart-shaped candies, over-priced dinners, and grand romantic gestures. And whether the thought of another Valentine’s Day makes you gag or giggle in anticipation, it’s undeniable (thanks to a long legacy of brilliant marketers) that the month of February is synonymous with L-O-V-E. That’s why we’re using this month to celebrate the greatest love of all – the love SMPS DC has for you, our members (I know, sooo cheesy, but I’ve got a theme going here).

This year marks the chapter’s first annual We Heart Marketers event, a new stand-alone celebration of all the amazing work our members and firms have produced over the past year, and an opportunity to recognize the winners of the 2017 SMPS DC Marketing Communications Awards. The best of the DC area’s latest AEC websites, rebrands, videos, campaigns, and strategic pursuit efforts will be on display, so come get inspired, support your peers, and cast your ballot for the coveted People’s Choice Award. This year’s MCA judges – including SMPS DC past president Lauren Myers Young, SMPS Fellow Andrew Weinberg, and 2015 Washington Business Journal Women Who Mean Business honoree Liz Wainger – will be on-hand at the event to share feedback on their favorites, and name one entry this year’s Best in Show.

In case you missed it, our Membership and Communications committees have teamed up to introduce a new series of monthly blogs spotlighting new and long-time members, and recognizing members who have reached milestone anniversaries with SMPS. We hope these posts inspire you to get involved, reconnect with fellow members, and start a new chapter in your SMPS love story. A special shout out to members Gabrielle Banks and Mary Moore for kicking things off right with heartfelt testimonials about their SMPS experience and how it has, and continues to, impact their careers. Thank you for sharing your stories with us.

Do you really want to feel the marketing love this season? Then join 300+ of the northeast region’s top marketers, business developers, and firm leaders this April in Saratoga Springs, NY for this year’s UBER Conference. Sign up between February 14th and February 21st to save $50 off registration and be entered for a chance to win a 2-night stay at the Gideon Putnam as a part of the conference’s “Share the Love” deal. I know I’ll be there!

As chapter president, I hope you all feel how much this organization cares about you and your success in each and every interaction you have with SMPS. From the hard working staff at SMPS Headquarters in Alexandria to our local chapter’s newest volunteer, we are all here to support, advocate for, and celebrate you. If there’s anything that we can do to expand your love for SMPS, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
