I love summer and it is hard to believe that there are just three more months left in our current program year and thus my SMPS DC presidency! While our summer calendar is lighter, please rest assured that we’re striving to make the next three months memorable. There is much work behind the scenes by the board and committees as we continuously work to bring value to your chapter membership through insightful programs, networking, and relevant business opportunities.

How should we continue an amazing 35th anniversary year? By celebrating in style with a summer party, of course! And if you haven’t already, there is still time to register for next week’s Summer Celebration Event on June 13. This not-to-miss event will highlight the chapter’s many accomplishments for the year as well as the 2018-2019 Board of Directors election. The evening will also feature marketing excellence with the Marketing Communications Awards, Rising Star Award, Pay-It-Forward Grant, the newly-created Pinnacle Experience Grant and the chapter’s highest honor - the Ginny Solomon Golden Tuba Award. Please come out and show your support for the hard work and contributions of our talented members, chapter leaders, and volunteers.

I want to send a heartfelt thank you to all of our volunteers – your contributions, whether for a few hours or a few years, help to shape the chapter and has such a positive impact. One thing I’ve truly loved about serving as Chapter President is getting to know and interact with many of you one on one.

Kudos to our Community Outreach Committee for participating in the JDRF Real Estate Games on June 7th at American University. Thanks to all that donated professional attire at our Data Center Lunch and Leads program for our clothing drive for Jubilee Jobs, a local DC charity that helps at-risk individuals transition to gainful employment. You can still bring clothing donations to the Summer Celebration.

Registration is open and going strong for our summer golf outing, Mulligan’s Island Golf Tour on July 23! Jointly sponsored with AIA Northern Virginia, we have a full day of golf, networking, a themed costume contest and fun prizes planned. If golf is not your game – don’t worry and join us for an evening of food, fun and socializing.

Are you ready to volunteer and/or looking to sharpen your marketing skills? Are you heading to Build Business in San Diego in August? Want to network with other conference attendees and mingle with the current and incoming boards? Well, don’t worry we have you covered - check our website for upcoming programs and event details.

As the temperatures rises, please join SMPS DC for some cool events.
