Looking ahead to 2020-2021, we shared the results of the annual planning survey. Nearly 20% of our membership weighed in, giving the SMPS DC Board valuable input to consider in planning this year’s program of events. With 76% of respondents reporting that they either felt completely uncomfortable attending in-person events at this time or would only feel comfortable attending with stringent social distancing measures in place. Based on this feedback, we have decided to plan for virtual SMPS DC events through December 2020. At that point, we will send another poll to develop our plan for the second half of the program year.

We also discussed the vision for this year’s SMPS DC programming. In my experience, SMPS is an organization where you get out of it as much as you put into it—and we want to give you lots of opportunities to get involved! From volunteering on committees to attending programs to presenting or authoring articles, we’re here to help make your SMPS DC dreams come true.

In October alone, we’re offering:

If you have ideas for programs or speakers you’d like to hear from, we’re all ears. Let’s make the most of your SMPS DC experience—together!
