SMPS DC Panelists to Present at the First AGC Innovation and Technology Summit

The AGC of Metropolitan Washington DC and its partners will host the first ever Innovation in Technology Summit that will bring together executives, company leaders, project teams, and technology experts from the across the spectrum of Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Facilities in the greater DC Region, including private sector owners and federal and public sector agencies. On Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 4:00 PM, SMPS DC marketing and social media gurus will be presenting “Marketing through Social Media”, a panel discussion featuring:

Moderator:

Katie Garret, Director of Communications, David M. Schwarz Architects
KGarrettA native Washingtonian, Katie is the Director of Communications at David M. Schwarz Architects. When not wearing one of many hats at DMSAS, Katie also serves Secretary on the Board of Directors of the Washington Building Congress, the Community Action Committee of CREW DC, as Director of Sponsorship for Digital District and is the President-Elect for the DC Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services. In addition to her passion for communications and the built environment, Katie is also an avid sports fan who has written about the Washington Redskins for several sports news sites and has also hosted her own sports radio show. Katie graduated from the University of Virginia with dual majors in Art History and Foreign Affairs. She currently resides in Columbia Heights with her rescue woof, Percy.

Laura Ewan, CPSM - Associate, Firmwide Communications, RTKL
LEwanLaura has been with RTKL, a global architecture, planning and design practice, for five years. Transitioning from marketing to a corporate communications focus in 2011, she now leads a creative team of highly-collaborative individuals responsible for maintaining the RTKL brand and managing all of RTKL’s internal and external global communications efforts including the launch of the new RTKL.com and the strategic development of RTKL’s online social communities. An active member of SMPS since entering the industry in 2007, Laura currently serves as Education Director on the SMPS DC Chapter Board. A background in education, she has taken a strong interest in the professional development opportunities offered by SMPS earning her CPSM in 2011, teaching the DC Chapter’s CPSM Bootcamp, and graduating with the inaugural class of SMPS University.

Mary Moore - Associate Partner, Director of Communications, Syska Hennessy
MMooreMary leads communications for Syska Hennessy Group, a global consulting, engineering and commissioning services firm. She has been involved in the design and construction industry for more than 20 years, actively leading marketing, communications and public relations efforts in engineering and architecture. Mary has served as a panelist, mentor and trainer for the SMPS DC Chapter. She is also the immediate past president of CREW Northern Virginia chapter, and has served as CREW’s Network National Delegate, and Social Media/Marketing and Public Relations Task Force member.

Kate Erdy, CPSM - Marketing Communications Manager, DAVIS Construction
KateErdyHeadshotA self-professed grammar nerd, blogger and thought leader on the subject of innovative marketing, Kate Erdy manages DAVIS Construction’s integrated marketing strategy and programming – both client facing and internal. Originally from Ohio, Kate relocated to DC and has developed eight years of valuable A/E/C experience, from collateral and copy development, website design, traditional and social media, to developing award winning marketing campaigns and executing highly technical pursuits. Kate‘s expertise revolves around getting the right message in front of the right audience. Every time.

Panelists will represent the architecture (Laura), engineering (Mary) and construction (Kate) industries. Topics will include branding, client intel, recruiting, goals, planning, engagement and best practices from industry experts.
