After many years of supporting the annual Wreaths Across America wreath laying event at Arlington National Cemetery, SMPS DC volunteers switched things up this year to lend a helping hand at the clean-up event on January 28. Armed with broomsticks, ropes, and shower rods, our volunteers bundled up against the cold to help return the cemetery to its pre-holiday condition. While the wreath laying event attracts thousands of volunteers from across the nation, the clean-up effort draws much smaller crowds and requires a ton of physical effort from volunteers as they carry as many wreaths as possible to the dumpsters located throughout the cemetery. Showing the true power of teamwork, Arlington Cemetery was fully cleared in just a couple of hours!
