That’s your job as a professional services marketer. But did you know that SMPS offers a credential that recognizes your achieved marketing expertise?

The Exam

When you apply for the CPSM examination, you're taking your first step toward joining a distinguished group of professionals who have made a commitment to professional excellence, career advancement, and an ongoing pursuit of knowledge. The 150-question, multiple-choice certification exam is offered in an online format at testing centers nationwide. Candidates must achieve a 75% score or higher to pass. Whether you are a marketer, business developer, or the employer of one, this certification will help you take your organization to the next level.


  • Possess a bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree plus four years of experience in marketing or business development for firms providing professional services, or
  • Possess an associate’s degree plus six years work experience in marketing or business development for firms providing professional services, or
  • Without a degree, have eight years of experience in marketing or business development for firms providing professional services
  • All candidates must pledge to abide by the CPSM Code of Ethics
