Spring is right around the corner (we promise!), and the soon-to-be warm weather means it’s time to think about 2019 project photography. As the new year begins and our marketing plans take shape, join SMPS DC and a panel of A/E/C industry experts to discuss the importance of utilizing high-quality professional photography and videography to promote your firm’s marketing portfolio. Hear from photographers Sam Kittner and Robert Benson, filmmaker Jason Cheung, and marketing expert Aubrey Armstrong on how to leverage your firm’s work through videography and photography. What You'll Learn

Attendees will learn best practices for working with photographers, videographers, and your own technical teams to visually capture and promote your firm’s work. The program will discuss how to plan and deliver a successful photo/video shoot; how to use photography and videography to meet firm objectives; and how to incorporate the latest trends in technology in your marketing. Event Speakers

Sam Kittner



Sam Kittner is photographer with a passion for connecting people and places. Through photojournalism, innovative digital techniques, and design-driven visual storytelling, Sam’s images document and promote architecture, development, and urban planning. He works regionally and nationally for a range of clients that includes design firms, general contractors, building owners, and economic development entities. Sam’s architectural and placemaking photographs appear in publications world-wide. His work has been recognized by the leading graphics trade publications Communication Arts, Photo District News, and his images support multiple awards for his clients including a recent national AIA recognition.

Jason Cheung

Creative Director & Founder


Jason Cheung serves as creative director and founder of Lost Note Productions LLC, a production company dedicated to visual storytelling. Lost Note has developed narrative videos for clients across numerous sectors, including the Lieber Institute for Brain Development, JBG Smith, University of Maryland, and Stanley Martin Homes. Jason believes that filmmaking is one of the most powerful tools to provide compelling narratives and emotions and left his career as an architect to follow this passion. Trained as an architectural designer and holding a master’s in architecture from the University of Maryland College Park, Jason translates this experience towards his disciplined design process. Jason is active in giving back to his community and has donated his services to a variety of nonprofits including campaigns for Sarah’s Hope, United Way of Central Maryland, and March of Dimes.

Robert Benson

Architectural Photographer


Robert Benson Photography is a national architectural studio with a 20-year reputation for extraordinary images. Mr. Benson believes the essence of architectural photography is in the blending of ideas, philosophy, art and light. He delights in creating images that surprise, reveal and communicate an architect’s intensions and emotions. Highly collaborative in his approach, Benson is backed by a full-service studio. His work has been published in Architect, Architectural Record, New England Home, among many others, and he has been successfully helping his architectural clients win prestigious design awards. Aubrey Armstrong

Branding Manager


Aubrey Armstrong is the Branding Manager at HITT Contracting where she leads the HITT Design Team within the Marketing Department. Since joining HITT in 2013 as a Graphic Designer, she has built a dynamic career in visual communication through her achievements in design, branding, and creative oversight of advertising and photography. In her current role, she is responsible for the creative vision and strategy of the HITT brand. Aubrey is a graduate of George Mason University with a B.A. in Arts and Visual Technology.
