Site Tour

The National Science Foundation is moving on up to a new HQ and you are invited to a behind-the-scenes tour. Come out and join your fellow AEC professionals as we tour this multiple-story office building and conference center.

What You'll Learn

Led by Tim Boerschlein, Balfour Beatty project manager, the tour features a behind-the-scenes look at this 660,000-sf, LEED Gold-certified facility. Learn more about demountable partitions, a flexible building system used in the upper stories of the building, that allow for customization and future growth of the agency. The bottom floors boast an innovative conference center featuring robust finishes and technology. When completed, the conference space will provide a forum for grant distribution presentations. Bill Whitenhill from WDG will also join the tour and provide commentary on the project’s interiors.

The tour will end with happy hour at Ted’s Montana to discuss the innovations in the building, and network and connect with fellow SMPS DC members. Drinks on your own; light appetizers provided by SMPS.

Project tour from 3:30 – 4:30 followed by happy hour and networking at Ted’s Montana.

Participants are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including a hard hat, vest, glasses, and sturdy/steel-toed shoes (i.e. no heels, open-toed shoes, or flimsy flats). If you do not have access to PPE, please contact Mary Noonan at prior to the tour.

All members are welcome to join us at Ted’s Montana (2451 Eisenhower Avenue) for happy hour and networking beginning at 4:30.

Only a few spots remain and are now open to non-members.
