The new year is a time for reflecting on the past and projecting optimism for the future. What better time to start preparing for performance reviews or making career change? This small-group program will explore best practices for getting ahead in the workplace. This is not a resume- or interview-crafting program, but rather an opportunity to hone your negotiating skills. Topics will include how (and when) to ask for more; how to craft a business proposition; the nuances of titles; what tangibles and intangibles to request; and how to accept what you receive in return.

What You'll Learn

Topics for discussion include:

  • How to craft a business proposition
  • Being realistic and aspirational
  • How to ask for more salary, vacation time, cell phone stipend, responsibilities, etc.
  • When is the right time to ask for more? And with whom?
  • What if you are turned down; what’s next?
  • Feedback from Human Resources professionals; their views vs. the staff or candidates
  • Glass ceiling challenges
  • How important are titles?
  • Takeaways include articles on best practices and a group-generated list of ideas

Join facilitator Carol Duke, Director of the Principals Round Table and Senior Marketers Round Table and Associate Vice President at HGA Architects and Engineers, to help chart your course for success.
